Pygmalion by GEORGE BERNARD SHAW Produced by MADELEINE GAIR Performed in April 2005 |

We celebrated our fortieth anniversary with a production of Bernard Shaw's classic play about education and the English class system. Language teacher Henry Higgins has a bet with a friend that he can teach a Cockney flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, to speak and behave like duchess, and to introduce her into polite society. However he soon comes to realise that Eliza has a mind of her own and his plans do not bear fruit in the way he expects. This was a special production for the Valley Players because it brought two of our founders, Jim and Pauline Leslie, out of retirement to play cameo roles alongside the current generation of members.
