by NEIL SIMON

Produced by ALINE BLIGHT

Performed in October 2002

The scene:  a dinner party for the great and the good to celebrate a tenth wedding anniversary of a very prominent member of the Government.

The Bevans arrive only to find Charley, the host, upstairs with a gunshot wound in his earlobe, his wife, their butler and the cook nowhere to be seen, and the meal uncooked.

Did Charley try to kill himself?  Can the Bevans possibly manage to spare their unfortunate host, and themselves, from scandal as the other guests turn up?

Rumours is a riotously funny farce in which everyone gets sucked into ever wilder and more desperate deceptions and impersonations as eventually – inevitably – the police arrive.

It was written by Neil Simon, author of classic comedies including The Odd Couple and The Sunshine Boys, and sparkles with his trademark one-liners.
