Sylvia's Wedding
by JIMMIE CHINN Produced by MARTYN HARBERTSON Performed in October 1997 |

|
It has only taken him ten years, but Gordon has finally plucked up the courage to ask his girlfriend Sylvia for her hand in marriage. As is often the case, the problems lie with the people around them. Gordon's parents, Stanley and Myrtle, think their son is marrying far beneath them, while on Sylvia's side, Vic and Joyce consider their counterparts to be unbearable snobs. Will hostilities be suspended to allow the big day to run smoothly? Will Shiela's best friend Yvonne ever keep her comments to herself? And let's not forget Joyce's budgie, Hoppy, who only has one leg... Our second excursion into Jimmie Chinn territory was this warn hearted and ultimately very moving comedy of family life.
