When John Bailey loses his job as a civil engineer his life seems to fall apart.

John struggles to come to terms with being a house husband while watching his wife Helen run a successful business of her own.  He also has to cope with his interfering mother-in-law, Mary. 

To complicate matters further, he begins an affair with his next door neighbour, Gwen, and it isn't long before his marriage with Helen seems to be heading for the rocks.

Then to top it all his musician son, Tom, reveals a double life of his own...

In Why Me? Stanley Price manages to forge a witty comedy from realistic materials.
